History of the Tale

The Cheetah and the Sloth is based on “The Tortoise and the Hare”. The original is among the best known of Aesop’s Fables. Aesop was a Greek storyteller who lived during the sixth century B.C. His fables tend to have animals as characters. Each fable also has a moral each one teaches a lesson about proper versus improper behavior. For example, the moral of “The Tortoise and the Hare” is that slow and steady can win in the end. Other notable Aesop’s fables include “The Grasshopper and the Ant” and “The Fox and the Grapes.”
