Italian Renaissance Art Exhibit

The term renaissance literally means “rebirth.” This was a period in Europe when major change was taking place. In many ways, it was the rebirth (return) of Europe as it had been during the days of Ancient Greece and Rome. Trade increased, merchants became wealthy, new learning took place, interest in the arts blossomed, and towns and cities grew. The gloom and despair of the Middle Ages had been chased away by the brilliance of a new era, the Renaissance!

Parents / Teachers

This exhibit primarily consists of the Italian Renaissance artwork. However, I am currently updating it to include all known artwork around the globe during that time period. You will then be able to drill down onto different parts of the world.

Note: The original json file was corrupted. I have since re-keyed the data into an xls file. Slobo has written a converter that takes the tab-delimited txt file saved from the xls and generates the json file. You can download it below. The corrected json is now using exhibit instead of runway due to it’s data filtering capabilities. You can download our json file and html file below. 09/01/09 Ms. Barrett
